• Eat. Some would suggest this goes without saying. We need food to live right, so what’s so great about cruise food? Well cruise ships often have a huge range of different restaurants on board and will frequently change their menus to match the current location of the ship. Make the most of having some world class chefs all in the same place by trying out food from all the eateries.
• Swim. You will more often than not find some great swimming pools on board that are perfect for getting some lengths in, having a play around or spending hours on a lilo soaking up the rays. As there is nothing around to block the suns rays, you can enjoy the sun all day long. Water flumes, wave-riding machines and water sports activities can be found on many boats and provide unlimited fun.
• Casino. If you have never gambled before or you’re a seasoned card shark, you should defiantly check out the casino floor. You simply cannot liken the great atmosphere you find in a casino with anywhere else and it’s always one of the best places to get to know your fellow holiday makers. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to enjoy yourself but if it’s your first time then Blackjack is a good place to start. It doesn’t have too many rules to get to grips with and they are a friendly people the Blackjack players. Cunard cruises are well known for their excellent casino facilities.
• Bar. There will be a number of different bars all over the ship and some luxury cruise ships are all inclusive, so there is no excuse not to sample some liquid delights. The bar staff are often well travelled and will welcome a break from making martinis all day if you ask them for something exotic. Get them to suggest their favourite tipple or ask for something traditional to a country you are visiting and they will amaze you with their cocktail making skills.
• Shows. You are almost guaranteed to find something you like from the wide range of quality performances that cruise ships put on. They will be something for everyone and there are some acts that you cannot see anywhere else. Rhine River cruises often have shows twice a day. Ask the staff around the ship for their recommendations and cruise reviews. They will be the people in the know as they’ve probably seen the shows many times in the past.
