Fishing with rubber kayaks are becoming more and more popular and rubber rubber boats in general is also one of the fastest growing segments of the sport fishing hobby. In my country Norway kayak sales have gone straight up the last few years and it is very common to see fishermen using them in streams and lakes.
Maybe you are a fisherman who has tested everything in fishing tackle or techniques, then I have to suggest kayak fishing to you. You do not need to buy new fishing tackle when kayak fishing so if you need a new challenge, purchase inflatable river kayaks, you will be surprised!
What are the benefits of kayak fishing ? Compared to a traditional boat it is mush easier to launch a kayak into the water and transporting it to the water. If you have a big boat you probably have to keep it in a marina which can be expensive. Fuel is not cheap and outboard motors is not known for being small fuel consumers either. A kayak, especially inflatable kayaks weighs nearly nothing and can be tailored on top of you car easily.
Some kayaks can be expensive but over time it will pay itself with the savings in fuel and storage expenses.
A kayak is perfect for fishing in my opinion, you can silently move from one spot to another without disturbing the surroundings or fish. You can even present your lures in places which never has seen fishing lures or flies because they have been inaccessible until now.
Todays kayak materials are modern and durable so one can expect it to last up to 15 years.
A kayak can send you fishing adventures to new heights but if you choose to purchase one, make sure to buy necessities as fishing rod holders, coolers, fish finders or maybe a GPS receiver. A folding anchor is also recommendible especially when fishing in a river or stream. Make sure to browse through available gear that tackle shops can offer.
Also consider fly fishing pontoon boats too if you prefer to have a good overview when fishing. Pontoon boats are bigger and have seats which make you sit much higher than in a kayak. Most of the benefits mentioned above can be transferred to pontoon boats too so I recommend you to follow the links in this article and check out all rubber boat types they can offer.
They have rubber boats for most boating needs so do as thousands already have experienced.
I have personally used a rubber kayak last season and have found a lot more exciting fishing spots. I have also landed more fish because of this.
It is a very special feeling to glide silently through a over grown river side, hearing and watching the willife living nearby. One feel like a true pioneer and explorer.
I think I have become an addict to this fishery, not very social but rewarding. Try it !
Not everyone can today afford a traditional boat for fishing but there is good alternatives. I`m not thinking about used boats. It can likely be very hard to find a quality used boat to a reasonable price so an other option is in my mind.
Some year ago I happened to try a rubber boat and was a bit sceptical at first because I have heard that they was not safe. But after a few weeks of hard fishing in many different areas and weather I was so impressed that I bought one and have not regret that since.
Luckily I was in position to test other types of rubber boats and here are mine experiences and recommendations.
Rubber float tubes
These boats are the smallest ones and most used for fishing. One can sit and fish quite comfortable and these boats are very popular amongst fly fishermen. They are in my opinion not well suited for spin fishing as I find them a bit clumsy for this type of fishing.
But if you are a pure fly fisher enthusiast this is a excellent choice for you at least in a lake. Fly fishing in a river is better from a kayak or canoe though. Just paddle out to a good spot and anchor up.
Rubber kayaks and canoes
Traditional kayaks and canoes are usually quite expensive and make sure you buy a quality kayak or canoe with a money back guarantee in case you find out this is not the right style for you. Quality kayaks or canoes are made of a very strong material and can bump into rocks and debris without getting a leak.
Many bass fishermen love this type as these boats can bring you to areas one usually can not reach and I have caught many big bass in such areas.
Rubber pontoons
Rubber pontoons are my favourite as fishing inflateable boat because in these you can sit higher and it is much better to fish from. They are very stabile and two to three fishermen can operate at the same time.
The one man pontoon boat are also a fishing friendly boat and it can also bring you to otherwise inaccessible fishing spots. I personally use this boat 90% of the time when fishing.
Consider purchasing one of these types of rubber boats if you are looking for a fishing boat. They are light, easy to transport, affordable and safe.
There is bigger boats for other boating needs, sports boats, sailing boats and many others. So one can easily bring the family when enjoying the fantastic boating life.
As the quality of rubber boats have become so much higher the last years they are now an excellent alternative to traditional boats.
