The Essential Frisbee Information

A lot of families love to play Frisbee especially if they have a park nearby in their neighborhood. It seems that many young individuals are into this craze; perhaps the reason why many individuals love this recreation is because it’s fascinating in its simplicity.

Frisbee is another term for flying saucers or flying discs. Most Frisbees are made from plastic and its diameter may vary, from 8-10 inches or 20-25 centimeters. When players throw the flying discs, it will fly aerodynamically while rotating. Another player will catch it by hand. This kind of recreation can be compared to rubber ball catching but it’s more fun to play.

If you try to shop around for Frisbees, you will notice that it is available in many types. Frisbees are easy to find; you can purchase them in commercial venues and even in supermarkets. For instance, you can purchase disc golf. This type of Frisbee is denser and smaller. If you play disc golf, you will need to follow a certain flight profile. Very good players of disc golf can effectively decrease or increase the stability of the disc as well as the distance.

Another very good example is the dog Frisbee. Dogs enjoy playing catch especially chasing Frisbees and because of this, a specially designed Frisbee was designed. The material used was more pliable so that the flying disc will be resistant to dog bites. It can also prevent possible dog injuries that are associated with rigid materials. There are even Frisbee dog competitions today to test the catching skills of the dog.

Aside from the disc golf and dog Frisbee, you can also find Aerobies which are ring-like discs. These discs look like the rings of Saturn and they fly beyond the range of regular Frisbees. At present, you can also find specially designed Frisbees which light up once you throw them. This kind of disc can be used at night just in case you and your friends decide to play the game at night; it is called flash-flight discs. This kind of disc is also becoming more and more popular especially among young individuals who spend most of their time near the beaches after sundown.

Frisbee is used in different games like freestyle Frisbee, ultimate Frisbee, Disc Golf, Double Disc, Durango Boot, Flutterguts, Guts Frisbee, Disc Dog, Friskee, Goalimate Schtick, Dodge Frisbee, Fricket (Cups), Fris-Nok (a traditional game), Hot Box, Speed Frisbee (similar to tennis), and Extreme Frisbee(violent and less official game). It’s quite easy to know more about these exciting Frisbee games. You simply have to search any search engine and you can gather all the needed information about Frisbee.

Log on to the net and find out more about this fun recreation. Instead of allowing your kids and teens to have fun out on the streets, why not buy them a Frisbee. The game can be played in your own yard or at a nearby park. Encourage your kids to be involved in this exciting recreation. Since there are different kinds of Frisbees, make sure that you get the right one.

Shop now for Frisbees in your supermarket or in commercial stores, or you can also purchase one online. Frisbees are quite affordable and so you don’t have to spend huge money just to be able to play the game. With a small amount of budget, you can already play this hot craze.

Tabletop Hockey Can Lead To All Kinds Of Family Fun

How often do friends, family or any group come together for a good competitive game of sport? It’s probably more than you think. Sure, there will be times when people will lose their temper when playing a game, but many times in the end, everybody gets together. Tabletop hockey would be a perfect game that will really work.

This is one fast paced game that will not only keep everyone’s interest, but will keep everyone talking and up at a gathering or party. Many times if there is a rumbling or the clicking of the puck on the table, eventually people will need to look and see what is going on, who is winning and who has the next game. Tabletop hockey is like a magnet, it draws people in to see what is going on and does not let go until the action has stopped. Of course the amount of attention that someone will get will depend on how much is given as well as what type of game it is.

The more the players put into the game, the more interest people will show when watching. Of course it helps if you buy the tabletop game you’re specifically looking for. A size you’re willing to accommodate in your home plus any extras you may be thinking of. Electronic scoring and lights when a goal is scored will be just a couple of options to consider when finding a table to compliment your home. Remember, find a table that will not only keep your interests up but also those who you wish to share the game with.

Knowing what you’re going to do with a tabletop hockey game will help you to decide what game you’ll buy. Is it going to be used so frequently that it will need to be a permanent fixture in the room, or is it likely to be put away and only taken out when you eventually play? Will it be a central piece to a room or have you a room that’s already designed for such a game? These decisions shouldn’t take long as you compile the plus and minuses to any tables you have in mind.

The Greatest Summer Bikinis

Don’t you love it when the sun starts shining on us? The start of summer makes everyone so excited about beach trips, vacations, buying new swimwear and having a new set of summer sundresses. Don’t let the heat beat you in dressing up during the summer. You can comfortably walk or drive around even in the summer heat when you’re wearing a summer sundress!

What makes a summer sundresses a top choice for women during the summer is because it does not only make them feel more beautiful, but it also provides them with comfort. Most summer dresses are made of cotton and this allows the body to breathe especially during the hot and humid summer.

Women do not need to think twice about buying a summer sundress. Admit it, you cannot settle for a single dress in your closet, and you always find an excuse to buy a new sundress. You can even spend the whole summer wearing only your summer sundresses and still feel that you do not have enough of these. The next time you want another dress to your collection, here are some things which you may need to know when it comes to buying sundress.

Must Have Summer Sundresses

* A white dress will never fail you in the summer. It can look good on anyone no matter what style you choose. This works best after going to the beach and you have tanned skin – wearing white will really flatter your skin tone and will make you look radiant. This is a top choice for most women because white reflect the sun’s rays which will make you feel cooler and lighter.

* Going for the classic look? You may want to check out floral print summer sundresses. These designs look great under the sun. There are dresses with smaller prints, but there are dresses with larger prints on them. Depending on your taste, you can add a little feminine touch to your wardrobe during the summer.

* For the more adventurous, bold ethnic prints are your best choices. These come in a mixture of bright colors such as yellows, reds, blues and even oranges. The brighter the colors of the mixture, the better. You will stand out with these colors that the sunlight complements. These never go out of style and will always be something that people will want. Do not be afraid to own at least one bohemian dress, it can really complete your wardrobe.

* There are so many styles that you can choose from- tube dresses, one-shoulder dress, halter dress, maxi dress and a lot more. Make sure that you pick a style which suits your body type. Always remember to fit the dress before actually buying them. A beautiful dress is nothing if it does not fit you well. Comfort comes with walking in style, so you need to make sure of this when you buy summer swimwear.

When Toys Were Toys

It’s true to say that toys have come on a long way over the last 100 years. Gone are the simple, handcrafted toys that lasted a good 10 years and in their place have come the technically advanced all-singing, all dancing gadgets that are lucky to survive for a couple of days in a child’s hands. Let’s take a look at some of the most iconic old toys and why they were loved so much

Rag dolls. There is nothing more simple than a rag doll. A whole generation were brought up on them and they went everywhere with their owners. Among their most appealing features was the ability to wash them simply by dunking them in warm water and not having to worry about bits breaking or falling off. These days Barbie and crying replica babies are all the rage. You’re not meant to wash them in the same way but I urge you to try.

Wooden bikes. Bikes these days are pretty much all made out of metal or plastic as these are generally the cheapest options for production. There is no beating however a bike that has been loving crafted out of good hardwood. They were close to indestructible and looked great as the wood aged and picked up character. Also, they did not out of place in a traditional house, often being used as a piece of furniture as well as a toy

Rocking horses. Due to their brilliant design and stunning hand crafted looks, a wooded rocking horse lasts for decades and looked again looked great as a feature in a room. The most appealing part about a rocking horse however is that you child will be content with riding it all day and you don’t have to fork out for a real one and all the things that go with it. The art of rocking horse making has been all but lost sadly, although you can find some makers if you look hard enough.

Find Helpful About Helping Your Children Prepare For Disasters

Disasters often strike quickly, without warning. Though sometimes it’s impossible to predict a disaster, you can always be prepared for one. Preparing and planning for any type of disaster will make survival and recovery much less complicated. Teaching children their part in an emergency plan and preparing them mentally and physically makes surviving significantly more manageable.

Teaching involved individuals the details of an emergency plan is a crucial aspect of creating and executing the plan successfully. Discuss the plan step-by-step and identify responsibilities and tasks of each individual in the household. Precise, easy directions help prevent confusion. So your children can know what to do and so that you can be sure the plan will work, practice your plan with them. Keeping up-dated 72-hour kits prepared in easily accessible locations at all times in another essential step to preparing for any type of emergency. You should have one 72-hour kit per person who lives in the home. Each kit should be specific in addressing the needs of each child according to medicines, records, and clothing. A child’s 72-hour-kit should include the following:

• Food and Water (Remember that these items cannot be cooked or refrigerated.)
o Crackers/Cereals (for munching)
• Clothing/Warmth/Shelter
o Change of Clothing (short and long sleeve shirts, pants, socks, jackets, etc.)
o Undergarments
o Rain Coat /Poncho
• Lighting
o Flashlights

o Light Sticks
• Personal Supplies and Medication
o Medication (Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, asthma inhalers, children’s medication, etc.)
o Prescription Medication (for 3 days)
• Personal Documents
o Legal Documents (Birth Certificates, Passports, immunization records, etc.)
• MISC
o Infant Needs (if applicable)
o Small, Lightweight toys and games for Children (For calming effect, comfort, and entertainment)

Sometimes there are different directions for different types of disasters. Below are ways we can prepare for and withstand fire and earthquake emergencies in places where children reside.

FIRE
Prepare Your House:
• Windows and doors with security bars or locks should include quick release devices that everyone should know how to use.
• If you live in an apartment, follow the evacuation plan they’ve made.
• If you live in a multi-level house, make sure there’s a safe way to reach ground.

Practice:
• Draw a detailed map indicating at least two ways out of every room.
• Agree on location outside of the home where everyone will meet after a fire.
• Practice your escape plan at least twice a year.

EARTHQUAKE
Prepare Your House:
• Move heavy objects to lower shelves
• Fasten bookcases and tall cabinets to the wall
• Do not position beds and cribs under windows
• Know how to turn off the gas and electrical master switch. (Keep a gas-shut off wrench in an easily accessible place.)

Practice:
• Teach children to duck and cover under secure pieces of sturdy furniture for protection during an earthquake.
• Duck under sturdy furniture, hold onto the table or desk leg, if possible, and have duck and cover drills at least twice a year.

Travel And Recreation – Why?

Do you have enough fun in your life? Well, after at least 40 hours of work a week, any average person would need some kind of fun activity just to preserve his or hers mental health.

And fun is not just very important for your health, it also improves your efficiency at work and your mood. If you are in a good mood, then you have the right predisposition to attract what you desire most in your life.

So, if we are considering a long lapse of time, let’s say a year for example, that’s what the holidays are for! A break from your day-to-day life to charge your batteries and begin the new period of work with a fresh mind and renewed forces.

People usually choose completely funny places to spend their holidays. If they can, they travel to unforgettable Caribbean islands, or plan an adventure journey, may be with their family, friends or pets. The unique fact that the holiday days are near can make you feel happy and work better.

What about in regular working months? Sure, you have the weekends to calm and ease your mind after a hole working week. But what about every day? Do you do any fun activity every single day to improve your efficiency and sustain your mental health?

Many people do athletic activities, which is also good for physical health also. This can be your choice if you enjoy training and find whatever sport you do funny. Many others prefer some kind of game, be it a board game, cards game or new generation online games.

And yet many others just choose to sit and watch TV, convinced that this is a funny activity. Be aware! Being there completely passive absorbing messages without making any choice can be very risky to you! You see, it doesn’t matter how much do you enjoy the show you are watching, you are bombarded with advertising messages and news flashes. You may think that you don’t watch those, but your brain does! Advertising is specially tricky for the brain. They show you how useful, and functional product XX is, but what your brain get is this: have no XX, I’m not useful enough (and this creates the urge to buy XX that was the aim of the advertising). Now, you are bombarded with tons of negative messages for you, and news don’t do better, as the majority of the people tend to unconsciously identify with the victims and feel the same as them.

On line games have some drawbacks also because they can be addictive and thus make you spend more of your valuable time playing on line games than really needed.
But they have some profits also. You are in complete control of what you are doing and you can choose games such as puzzles that enriches your speech, three on a road games that improves your thinking skills or time managing games that help you in the area of focus and planning.

So, make yourself some good and plan an “every day little holiday” along with your annual vacation!

Scrabble Help And Tips To Boost Your Scrabble Scores.

There are nearly 100 2-Letter Words and 1000 3-Letter Words in the OSPD. Of these, about half will be familiar to most people. Try taking your time to learn the other 500 or so words and you can add at least 50 points to your average score.

Feel your tiles move them around, and you may be amazed at what you can find. Some words look really bad until you add -IER after or UN- before them.

Don’t play an S just because you can. Estimates of the value of an S range from 8 to 20 points. What that means in real terms is that before you even consider playing an S, you should make sure the play is worth at least 10 points more than your 2nd best play. Throw away an S and you might as well be handing your opponent an extra turn.

The blanks, by being able to substitute for any letter, are by far the most valuable tiles in Scrabble. About the only time you should play a blank for less than 50 points is when you’re stuck with the Q, all the U’s are out, and you need the points too much to change tiles.

Q can be a quite scary letter. However there are 21 words in the OSPD that use the Q without a U.

Using a anagram uncrambler can help you reveal hard anagram’s and also help with using up remaining letters in Scrabble.

The Tournament Rules booklet is about 16 pages and takes less than a half-hour to read through, but at almost every competition there’s at least one argument caused by a new player who doesn’t know how to proceed and a veteran whose nerves are on edge. Read the rules and learn the game.

Don’t try to find loopholes to circumvent the rules. More than a few players have tried to “quick draw” to avoid challenges, call excessive holds to use up an opponent’s clock, and a few other tricks.
The OSPD lists over 54,000 7- and 8-letter words. With that many to choose from, almost any letter combination can be hiding a bingo. No matter how bad your rack looks, it’s worth taking 30 seconds to look. You may not find one, or recognize it if you do find it, but you’ll always berate yourself for missing one you didn’t look for.

To make things easier, we’re just going to list a few of the basic defensive strategies:
o Try not to open a game with an E, S, R, or T on the center square. It gives your opponent too many bingo chances from the TWS.
o A vowel next to a colored square is a hot spot your opponent can score on.
o The C, Z, Q, and V are useful for playing near the triple lines because they don’t take hooks. J and K are also strategic because they only have back hooks.
o A 3-letter play parallel to another word can effectively block off up to 5 bingo lines while scoring good points.
o Avoid giving away two letter word score plays. Really avoid giving away triple-triples.
o Learn words that don’t take an S hook and use them.
o If you’re going to leave a hook, it helps to have the letter needed for the hook already in your rack.

Here’s a short list of perfectly valid Scrabble words, but which your opponent will presume you’ve spelt incorrectly. They, of course, will challenge you and reach for the Scrabble dictionary. You know that you’ve just got yourself an extra turn. Try this more than once and you may get your bluff called.

There are piles of words in the Scrabble dictionary that fit the description; these are just a few examples.

AMUCK APATITE ASBESTUS ASPERATE COALA CHICKORY CIGARET CUNDUM CUTLAS CYDER DORNOCK DROWND FANTOM GALIVANT GOODBY GREWSOME JALOPY KREEP KULTUR KUMQUAT MUSTACHE PEEPUL PENCEL PENSIL RABBET SKEEING SYCOSIS

The double letter, triple letter, double word and triple word squares are referred to as the premium squares. Concentrate on using these squares to maximise your scores. With the letter premium squares a good tip is to find the highest scoring letter on your rack and try to land it on a double or triple letter square. Utilising the 2 letter words you can often play that high scoring letter in 2 words simultaneously scoring 4 times its worth on a double or 6 times on a triple.

Hope these scrabble help scenarios have provided some good tips.

A Great Article On How Bad BMI Is To Measure Health

A cool article on how funny BMI is to calculate health

I’ve found this in image board

For more please check Chankom

Tom Cruise: Hottie or Fatty? If Tom Cruise had been accidentally decapitated in the making of the Last Samurai, he would have become one more victim of our “obesity epidemic.” Sound weird? Welcome to the politics of fats, where bedroom scales can be tax-deductible, lawyers are lining up to sue anything rumored to contain calories, and the press has fed us a steady diet of hysteria and hyperbole.

The first thing you need to understand is that in our twilight zone of fats hysteria, he is officially obese. That’s based on the Body Mass Index (BMI), a measurement that separates us into government-approved, overweight, and obese categories by taking into consideration only our height and weight. A BMI of 30 or more makes you obese, and at 5-7, 201 pounds, Tom Cruise has a BMI of 31.

According to the BMI standard, 61% of America are fatties or obese. You have probably heard that number. Along with the claim that obesity costs the United States $117 billion a year and kills 300,000 Americans annually, it is one of the three most commonly cited figures associated with our so-called obesity epidemic.

But it’s more like an epidemic of bad statistics. All three of these numbers are seriously flawed.

fat Cruise is in good company. Thanks to the absurdities of the BMI yardstick, Sylvester Stallone (5-9, 228 pounds, BMI of 34) and Mel Gibson (5-9, 214 pounds, BMI of 32) are also “obese.” So was Mark McGwire (6-5, 250 pounds, BMI of 30) the year he hit 70 home runs. And if politics is your thing, you’ll be interested to know that the new governor of California (6-2, 257 pounds, BMI of 33) is obese, too.

Here’s how the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains these counterintuitive results: “Overweight may or may not be due to increases in body fat. It may also be due to an increase in lean muscle.”

It’s not just full-blown obesity that has been bungled by numerical hocus-pocus. 39 million Americans went to sleep one night in 1998 at a government-approved weight, and woke up “overweight” the next morning, thanks to a change in the government’s definition. That group includes presently “overweight” (BMI greater than or equal to 25) movie stars like Will Smith (6-2, 210 pounds, BMI of 27) and Pierce Brosnan (6-2, 211 pounds, BMI of 27). Michael Jordan (6-6, 216 pounds, BMI of 25) and Cal Ripken Jr. (6-4, 220 pounds, BMI of 27) were also “overweight” at the height of their athletic powers. And so is our ultra-fit President Bush (6-0, 194 pounds, BMI of 26). Moreover, the standard that we abandoned in 1998 had the virtue of distinguishing between men and women–something we now do not even attempt to do.

So what does Tom Cruise’s imaginary swordplay mishap have to do with obesity? Chalk it up to more bad statistics. The regularly recycled factoid that excess weight causes 300,000 deaths a year bizarrely assumes that if you die while overweight, you die because of that excess weight. As insane as it sounds, if Cruise were to kick the bucket for any reason, his death would count toward the mythical 300,000 total.

The respected New England Journal of Medicine knows this is bogus. It maintains that the 300,000 figure “is by no means well established. Not only is it derived from weak or incomplete data, but it is also called into question by the methodologic difficulties of determining which of the many factors contribute to premature death.”

Nevertheless, this statistic finds its way into nearly every discussion of obesity–as does the spurious claim that obesity costs Americans $117 billion per year. The source of this figure: a single study published by the journal Obesity Research in 1998.

This study had serious limitations, as the authors themselves admitted. They acknowledged that their methodology resulted in the “double-counting of costs” which “would inflate the cost estimate.” There’s also this stunning admission: “We are still uncertain about the actual amount of health utilization associated with overweight and obesity. Height and weight are not included in many of the primary data sources.”

But even if they had good data to work with and somehow controlled for the double (and even triple) counting of costs, these researchers still would have reached a unrealistic conclusion. Why? They used the wrong definition of obesity.

A BMI of 30 or more makes you obese, but the authors of this study for some reason decided to set the threshold at “BMI greater than or equal to 29.” Thus they erroneously included the economic cost of individuals with a BMI between 29 and 30. A small error? Not at all. That covers more than ten million Americans, including Bruce Willis (6-0, 211 pounds, BMI of 29), Brendan Fraser (6-3, 234 lbs, BMI of 29), and George Clooney (5-11, 211 pounds, BMI of 29).

$117 billion cost. 300,000 deaths. 61 percent fat or obese. All wrong. Unfortunately, these bad statistics are the shaky ground on which a growing number of activist groups seek to build their nutritional utopias.
